[The last thing he remembered was the feeling of weakness, and falling... and the pain of it all. He had hoped that would be the end of it, the end of him. He'd be put out of his misery so he wouldn't have to continue suffering such a wretched existence.
But of course he would never be so fortunate.
He was only vaguely aware of being moved around and the sounds of voices. He couldn't make out any of it, and wasn't coherent enough to think properly. Slowly more started coming to him. Warmth, the occasional waft of food, people touching him- petting his hair, or holding his hand. He couldn't make sense of it, it was foreign yet... familiar.
When he'd finally regained enough power to rouse himself he was... disoriented. Not out of grogginess or anything like that, but because this place... when was the last time he'd seen it? It should have been hundreds of years ago, but it felt like he'd just gone to bed there the night before. Could everything have just been a dream? A terrible and wretched dream? Could he still be the Kabu- no, Kanoa?
Deep down he knew none of it had been a dream, but he was so desperate to divorce himself from the reality he just left, a way out from all that pain, that he readily accepted this as true.
So he propped himself up, or, well he tried to. He had to move one of Nanu's many cats of his chest first before he could manage sitting up. Sort of. The cat kept returning to his chest, and he kept trying to remove it- he didn't even notice when someone entered the room.]
[ Nenonen doesn't know what starts it, but one day, there are alarms. Lights. A loud voice that drones over and over,
WARNING. WARNING. WARD BREACH IN SECTION C. REACTOR MELTDOWN. WARNING. PLEASE PROCEED TO THE NEAREST EXIT. WARNING...
It's nonsensical at first. A ward has been breached...? Meltdown? Nen barely has enough time to wonder how before the door to their room opens automatically. Beyond it is chaos: Fatui researchers and scientists running down the halls, guards missing from their posts. Red lights flash in warning as Nenonen steps beyond the threshold of their room; an explosion rocks the building and they're swept up into the crowd of people running before they know it.
The rest is a blur. Somehow, they make it to the surface. For the first time, Nenonen feels sunlight on their skin. Sees the sky.
One of the technicians makes it with them. They travel together for a bit, but at some point it's clear that Nenonen's been left behind. The very first town they happen upon, the technicians claims they need to find one of their "contacts" and...that's the last they see of them. They hear talk of a scuffle with some sort of burglar the next day in town, and wait. And wait. And wait, until it doesn't make sense to anymore.
Nenonen spends a few more days in the town to see if any of the others show up, but after the sun rises on the fifth they decide to eke out on their own. They wander far out beyond the borders of the village and out into rolling hills covered in grass and think,
This is definitely better than the lab. Even if it is weird to be on their lonesome. ]
[There’s a picture of a half empty bottle of strawberry shampoo. It’s vibrant red color and the pictures of strawberries on the label is undeniable proof of the bottle’s crimes.]
This juice is full of lies. It does not taste like strawberries. Do not be fooled.
